KA Techies Group Projects
Below are group projects that I worked on during this course. To view project click on the title or images below.
Video Research Project on Understanding
Students often come into our classroom with multiple misconceptions that they believe to be the truth. It is important as an educator to learn the different misconceptions that your students have before you begin teaching your lesson. To show how abundant misconceptions are we were asked to chose a topic that people had different conceptions about. Then each group member interviewed people using the same questions. Then the interviews were edited and put together to make a five minute video to show the different misconceptions. Below is our website link that will give you information on our project and the link to the video we created. We focused on these three questions:How do you taste?
How do you know the information you learn is true?

Behaviorism and ElectroCity
Chaining and Positive and Negative Punishment
For this project we were asked to find a software on the web that used behaviorist principals to teach students a specific subject matter. We chose the software ElectroCity. ElectroCity allows students to create their own biosphere. They have to be concerned about several factors. A few factors are;natural resources, population, money, and taxes. The students see how the decisions they make impact their biosphere in both positive and negative ways. Then we had to prepare a presentation illustrating these concepts using the technologies of our choice. We chose to use Jing and Movie Maker Live to create our presentation. Our presentation illustrates how chaining and negative punishment are used in the game to alter student choices. Click on the image below to view video project.
Cognitive Concept Map with Inspiration
This project focused on two key points. We were exploring cognitivism and the concept mapping website Inspiration.
Physics Projects: Balls
The video demonstrates that balls of different sizes will fall at the same speed from a stationary spot, standings, walking, and running, This project was created as an example of a classroom project that could be done to create an understanding of the project for students. They are given the opportunity to experiment and prove any misconceptions they had wrong. Click on the picture below to view project.
Key Topics:Using Technology to Engage in Professional Development and Leadership
Our project was to create a wiki library of links to different resources to help educators find professional development and become leaders in their school district. Click on title or image to view project.
Creativity
In this project we were given Cool Tools for Schools as a resource to create a wiki. Each member of the group had to choose a creativity tool to analyze. We had to use Dewey's key words: Inquiry, Construction, Communication, and Expression.

Dream It-A Technology Based Grant Proposal Exploring Lateral Thinking
This project proposes using different technologies to teach students to use their creativity and lateral thinking skills in a cross-curricular context. By using these technologies to actively engage students, I hope to have students understand the content and began a new way of thinking.
Looking Back and Looking Forward: My Final Reflection
For the first part of this project we were asked to looking back and discussing the topics we learned and how they matter and how they will transform our teaching and our students' learning. The second part of this project we are looking forward in are teaching goals over the next five years.
